One of the most complex health issues are related to the human reproductive system and the process of child birth. Often due to some health disorders or complication during pregnancies, the fetus dies inside or has to aborted to save the mother. Abortions are also carried out to curb undesirable pregnancies and remove the developing fetus inside the womb. However, carrying out an abortion is not an easy task and getting its timing right is of crucial importance. If not perfectly executed then the abortion may cause severe threat to the mother.

When to execute an Abortion?

According to gynecologists and medical experts, an abortion can be carried out if the pregnancy is about seven weeks or less. The weeks are counted by taking into consideration the date of the first day of the last menstrual cycle of the woman. Considering this time period, if the age of the pregnancy is less than seven weeks then the woman can consider an abortion. The abortion can be carried out with the help of a medication called methotrexate. Apart from the methotrexate, there is yet another way of carrying out an abortion, which is a surgical way of removing the fetus. When a woman makes a first visit to the clinic at that time the age of the pregnancy must not be more than 7 weeks.

Once the methotrexate is administered, the growth of the embryo is restricted and hence the pregnancy is curbed. After methotrexate, the next form of medication administered is misoprostol. Once the misoprostol is administered it leads to uterine contractions due to prostaglandin. It also leads to removing the already weakened embryo and the placental tissue. Most of the abortions are minor operations and the women recover from it almost within a few hours. After the embryo is removed there is yet another examination conducted, which is known as the transvaginal ultrasound examination. Experts recommend medical abortion as it is a safer and less-risky as compared to the surgical abortion method. Surgical abortion is the concluding step in the process of abortion and if all other methods fail then the woman must undergo a surgical abortion.

Timing the abortion successfully is extremely significant and would determine whether the abortion would be successful or not.
