The history of birth control dates back to 3000 B.C. and since then has grown as a complete science field that has developed by leaps and bounds over the years. The birth control methods include oral contraceptives, physical contraceptive devices and surgical techniques for both males and females. There are many natural methods like the rhythm therapy, Standard Day method and Ovulation charting that one can use to prevent pregnancy. The world’s boosting population has made family planning a major concern and hence people seek newer efficiencies to control birth. Birth control has been closely related to mythology and has intricate connections with the various epics.

The various religions since times immemorial have preached procreation but in Hinduism, child birth was always permitted and was never considered as a sin. The Upanishads are considered to be an ocean of information that even includes the most intricate topics like birth control etc. The Upanishads have holistically explained the concept of child birth and hence it stands to be an encouraging factor that motivates people to plan a happy family. The chapter of birth control claims that a regulated sex life and non-violence will help attain a higher state of spiritualism. It strictly prohibits the usage of artificial contraceptives as one will hence lose the power to self-restrain oneself. It preaches that the use of other contraceptive methods drains out your energy and makes one a parasitic creature. It even includes the latest questions of population control and encapsulates the factors that can assist to build a good family.
