Early Pregnancy Signs And Symptoms - How To Know

While the early signs of pregnancy vary from one woman to another, one of the most common early pregnancy signs is that of a missed period. However, it is important to understand that not all women miss a menstrual cycle until later in their pregnancy, and some spot throughout the entire pregnancy. It is important to be able to recognize early pregnancy signs, because many symptoms mimic those of other conditions besides pregnancy.

Each woman will experience pregnancy symptoms almost immediately after conception, while others may not experience the most common pregnancy symptoms until later in their pregnancies, if at all. Remember if there is any chance that you may be pregnant, and you begin to experience any of the early pregnancy signs, it is important to call your doctor to find out if you may be pregnant as soon as possible. Early prenatal care is vital to ensuring that you have a healthy baby.

Signs That You May Be Pregnant

There are many common early pregnancy signs. While only a doctor can diagnose pregnancy with absolute certainty, some of the following symptoms can help you determine whether or not you may be pregnant.

Spotting can be an early pregnancy sign. Usually, shortly after conception, a woman will spot as the embryo attaches itself to the uterine wall. Many woman who experience this will mistake it for their normal period, because it can also be accompanied by cramping, and usually occurs around the same time as their normal menstrual cycle.

We already discussed the most common early pregnancy sign - a missed period. Un-fortunately, if your period is irregular to begin with, you may not notice if you are late. Another common sign that you may be pregnant, is swollen or tender breasts. This usually occurs within just a few weeks of conception. Your areolas may also become enlarged or discolored shortly after conception.

Another early pregnancy sign is feeling more tired than usual. While fatigue is very common during pregnancy, it is important to note that fatigue can be a symptom of many illnesses, and you should always contact your doctor whenever you are feeling more tired than usual.

And then, of course, there is everyone's favourite early pregnancy sign - morning sickness! I know that there are some very luck women who never experience any sort of nausea during their pregnancies, but I was certainly not one of them. It is possible for a woman to begin to experience nausea immediately after conception, but this sign typically does not show up until between two to eight weeks into the pregnancy.

Be sure to contact your doctor as soon as you experience any signs of pregnancy. You can help to ensure that you have a healthy pregnancy and delivery by knowing the early pregnancy signs.
