Abortion as a form of birth control
A very divisive and sensitive issue for many, deciding to have an abortion can be very hard. An abortion is a way to end an unnecessary or unwanted pregnancy. The common of abortions occur throughout the first 12-weeks of a pregnancy. Those that happen later in a pregnancy are most frequently for medical causes. Abortions are not destined to be used as a normal form of birth control. If someone is having sex and do not want to get pregnant, use a dependable form of contraceptives. If it is vital for one to avoid a pregnancy, remaining ascetic is the best way to do this.
Types of abortions:
1. Medication -The first dose of medicine works by blocking the body's production of progesterone that is needed to help keep the uterine lining appropriate for the embryo. Lacking the progesterone, the uterine lining thins and the pregnancy is ended. The next step in a medical abortion is to take one more dose of medication that will cause uterine contractions thereby forcing the body to expel the contents of the uterus. Finally, one will need a follow-up appointment so that the doctor can be sure there are no miscellanies of the pregnancy left in the uterus. Though normally safe, this type of abortion can reason hemorrhaging. This happens in about 1% of women who use the drug.
2. Surgical - There are three types of surgical abortion and they are manual vacuum aspiration, dilation and suction curettage and dilation and evacuation. Manual vacuum aspiration of abortion can be done up to 10 weeks after a woman's last menstrual period. Dilation and suction curettage type of abortion is performed between six and 14 weeks after a woman's last menstrual period. Dilation and evacuation is performed from the thirteenth week of pregnancy on, this kind of abortion involves slowly opening the cervix to allow room for forceps, a suction device and curette.
Emotional aspects of abortion:
There are many disturbing issues a woman must think before deciding whether or not an abortion is the right path of action for her. Abortion is not the correct choice for every woman. While some women are cheerful with their choice, others end up regretting their decision. It is not unusual to experience depression, nightmares and rapport problems, especially for women who had mixed feelings about their choice. Whatever one decides makes sure it is the choice. Being pressured into an abortion may cause one to regret the decision later on.
